Instructions |
|
The short stay
visa entitles aliens who seek to enter the territories of
the Contracting Parties to the Schengen Convention (Schengen
countries) for reasons other than immigration, to pay in
continuous visits or several visits, the duration of
which does not exceed three months in any half-year from
the date of first entry. |
|
|
|
The Embassy
Spain in New Delhi is in charge of processing the short
stay visa applications of Indian nationals and other
nationals resident in India. |
|
|
|
Citizens of
Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives are reminded
that, even if they have the right to submit their
applications in the Embassy of Spain in New Delhi, they
can do so in the corresponding Embassies and Consulates of
France in their respective countries, that represents
Spain in this matter. |
|
|
|
Granting a
visa is a prerogative of the Embassy in every case.
Having submitted “all the documents” does not imply a
“right” for the visa to be granted. |
|
|
|
If the
applicant is going to travel to different countries of the
Schengen area, he must consider that the competent state
for processing the visa will be, in this order: |
 |
The state of
main destination. |
 |
The country
more related to the purpose or main reason of the trip.
|
 |
The country in
whose territory the visit will be longest. |
 |
The state of
first entry. |
|
|
|
|
You must
please submit your application well in advance before your
trip. The minimum time period to process the visa will not
be reduced in any case. |
|
|
|
On receiving
the application, the Embassy will determine an approximate
date for the resolution of the application. On that day,
any of the following situations may be given: |

The visa
applied for is granted. |
 |
The
application is still pending. |
 |
The applicant
is required to provide further documents. |
 |
The applicant
is summoned for a personal interview. |
 |
The
application is rejected. |

|
|
For groups of
more than twenty persons you must first contact the
Visa Section of the Embassy or IVS. |
|

|
|
|
Passport with a validity of at least three months after
the intended stay. |
|
|
|
Back to back original application form dully filled in and
signed with a blue ball-point pen by the applicant with a
photo should be pasted. The mail address and a telephone number
where the applicant can be contacted must be clearly
stated in the application. |
|
|
|
If the applicant is a minor, the application has to be
signed by the parents, and copies of the passports of the
parents will be attached. If the parents do not apply
together with the minor, copies of the passports or
driver’s licenses of the parents attested by a notary will
be attached. |
|
|
|
Two back to back photocopies of this application form with
a photograph should be pasted on each form. |
|
|
|
Bank draft drawn in favor of Embassy of Spain, New Delhi,
for Rs. 3,842/-. The name of the applicant and his / her date
of birth must be written on the backside of the draft.
Visas for applicants under 6 years old are GRATIS (Free). |

|
Photocopy of the bank draft. |
|
|
|
Covering letter explaining in detail the purpose of the
visit that the applicant intends to undertake. |
|
|
|
If the purpose of travel is to visit friends or relatives,
an invitation made before the Spanish Police and an
attested copy of the passport or the national identity
card of the person receiving the applicant in case he / she
is Spanish or a European Union citizen, or of the
residence permit of the person inviting the applicant in
case he / she happens to be Indian or a citizen of another
non-EU country. |
|
|
|
If the purpose of the visit is a business trip, an
original letter from the Spanish company or companies
receiving him explaining the nature of the existing
relation and the motive of the visit. It is not necessary
that the company gets in touch directly with the Embassy. |
|
|
|
If the purpose of the visit is a business trip, all the
documents that the applicant may deem appropriate to
attach in order to show the economic situation of the
company, the ownership of the company ant the business
activity undertaken. |
|
|
|
If the purpose of the visit is any other than the business
trip (for example: conferences, participation in sports
events, studies, cultural activities, etc.) all the
documents which may justify the motive of the visit. |
|
|
|
All the documents that the applicant may consider
appropriate in order to show his / her personal economic
situation (for instance: original bank statements, pay
slips, etc.) and attested copies of any other documents
that the applicant may decide to provide. These documents
are necessary even it is another person, company or
institution who bears the expenses of the trip. |
|
|
|
Photocopy of the applicant’s passports, present and
previous (all the pages). |
|
|
|
If the applicant is not a national of India, Bangladesh,
Sri Lanka, or the Maldives, a proof of his / her legal
residence in any of these countries (residence permit). |
|
|
|
Evidence of accommodation during the stay in the Schengen
countries. |
|
|
|
Reservations for plane or other means of transport
comprising the whole itinerary intended. |
|
|
|
Proof of travel insurance to cover any expenses which
might arise in connection with repatriation for medical
reasons, urgent medical attention and / or emergency
hospital treatment. The insurance must be valid throughout
the territory of the Member States and cover the entire
period of the person’s stay. The minimum coverage will be
30.000 euros or equivalent. |

|
Power in favor of the IVS staff to submit the visa
application and to do the follow-up throughout the
procedure. The modelss of the power are available in IVS.
The power has to be signed by the applicant or the parents
in the case of minors. |

Residence Visas For Work As Employee:
The deadline established for the application for this type
of visa is one month since the date of notification to the
entrepreneur or employer of the favorable resolution on
the residence and work authorization. |

The Embassy of Spain in New Delhi processes the work
residence visas of the citizens of India, Bangladesh,
Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives or of residents in those
countries. |
|
|
|
On receiving the application, the Embassy will determine date for the resolution of the application.
On that day, any of the following situations may be given: |
