Short Stay Visas (Tourist & Business)

Instructions

The short stay visa entitles aliens who seek to enter the territories of the Contracting Parties to the Schengen Convention (Schengen countries) for reasons other than immigration, to pay in continuous visits or several visits, the duration of which does not exceed three months in any half-year from the date of first entry.

The Consulate General of Spain in Mumbai is in charge of processing the short stay visa applications of Indian Citizens residence in the following states.
Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Karanataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa plus Daman & Diu.

Granting a visa is a prerogative of the Consulate in every case. Having submitted “all the documents” does not imply a “right” for the visa to be granted.

If the applicant is going to travel to different countries of the Schengen area, he must consider that the competent state for processing the visa will be, in this order:

The state of main destination.
The country more related to the purpose or main reason of the trip.
The country in whose territory the visit will be longest.
The state of first entry.

You must please submit your application well in advance before your trip. The minimum time period to process the visa will not be reduced in any case.

On receiving the application, the Consulate will determine an approximate date for the resolution of the application. On that day, any of the following situations may be given:

The visa applied for is granted.
The application is still pending.
The applicant is required to provide further documents.
The applicant is summoned for a personal interview.
The application is rejected.

For groups of more than twenty persons you must first contact the Visa Section of the Consulate or IVS.

Documents To Be Provided With The Short Stay Visa Application

Passport with a validity of at least three months after the intended stay.
Back to back original application form dully filled in and signed with a blue ball-point pen by the applicant with a photo should be pasted / stuck. The mail address and a telephone number where the applicant can be contacted must be clearly stated in the application.
If the applicant is a minor, the application has to be signed by the parents, and copies of the passports of the parents will be attached. If the parents do not apply together with the minor, copies of the passports or driver’s licenses of the parents attested by a notary will be attached.
Two back to back photocopies of this application form with a photograph should be pasted // stuck on each form.
Bank draft in favor  of Consulate General of Spain, Mumbai, for Indian Rupees INR 3,842/-. The name of the applicant and his / her date of birth must be written on the reverse  of the draft. Visas for applicants under 6 years old are GRATIS (Free).
Photocopy of the bank draft.
Covering letter explaining in detail the purpose of the visit that the applicant intends to undertake.
If the purpose of travel is to visit friends or relatives, an invitation made before the Spanish Police and an attested copy of the passport or the national identity card of the person receiving the applicant in case he / she is Spanish or a European Union citizen, or of the residence permit of the person inviting the applicant in case he / she happens to be Indian or a citizen of another non-EU country.
If the purpose of the visit is a business trip, an original letter from the Spanish company or companies receiving him explaining the nature of the existing relation and the motive of the visit. It is not necessary that the company gets in touch directly with the Consulate.
If the purpose of the visit is a business trip, all the documents that the applicant may deem appropriate to attach in order to show the economic situation of the company, the ownership of the company and the business activity undertaken.
If the purpose of the visit is any other than the business trip (for example: conferences, participation in sports events, studies, cultural activities, etc.) all the documents which may justify the motive of the visit.
All the documents that the applicant may consider appropriate in order to show his / her personal economic situation (for instance: original bank statements, pay slips, etc.) and attested copies of any other documents that the applicant may decide to provide. These documents are necessary even it is another person, company or institution who bears the expenses of the trip.
Photocopy of the applicant’s passports, present and previous (all the pages).
Evidence of accommodation during the stay in the Schengen countries.
Reservations for plane or other means of transport comprising the whole itinerary intended.
Proof of travel insurance to cover any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and / or emergency hospital treatment. The insurance must be valid throughout the territory of the Member States and cover the entire period of the person’s stay. The minimum coverage will be 30.000 euros or equivalent.
Power in favor of the IVS staff to submit the visa application and to do the follow-up throughout the procedure. The models of the power are available in IVS. The power has to be signed by the applicant or the parents in the case of minors.

Residence Visas for Work Permit

Introductions

Residence Visas For Work As Employee: The deadline established for the application for this type of visa is one month since the date of notification to the entrepreneur or employer of the favorable resolution on the residence and work authorization.
The Consulate General of Spain in Mumbai is in charge of processing the Work Residence visa applications of Indian Citizens residence in the following states.
Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Karanataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa plus Daman & Diu.
On receiving the application, the Consulate will determine date for the resolution of the application. On that day, any of the following situations may be given:
The visa applied for is granted.
The application is still pending.
The applicant is required to provide further documents.
The applicant is summoned for a personal interview.
The application is rejected. (The rejection does not entitle to the refund of the paid fees).

This certificate must be less than one month old at the time of submission of the application. Indian certificates must be issued by the corresponding passport office. If this record is of Indian Origin it requires a 'Apostilla De Haya' stamp from the Ministry of External Affairs, Patiala Court House, New Delhi.

Photocopy of the criminal record.

Medical certificate in order to prove that the applicant doesn’t suffer from any quarantinable diseases listed in the International Sanitary Act. This certificate must be less than one month old at the time of submission of the application.

Marriage certificate. This certificate must be less than three months old at the time of submission of the application. Depending on the nationality of the applicant the characteristics of the certificate should be as follows:

Marriage certificate issued by the Registrar of Marriages in English and legalized by the Ministry of External Affairs (Apostilla De Haya).

Photocopy of the marriage certificate and of the official translation. In case this certificate is in a regional language.

Legalized criminal record issued by the authority / authorities of the country of origin and of the country or countries in which the applicant may have resided during the last five years. This certificate must be less than one month old at the time of submission of the application. Indian certificates must be issued by the corresponding passport office. If this record is of Indian Origin it requires a 'Apostilla De Haya' stamp from the Ministry of External Affairs, Patiala Court House, New Delhi.

If both parents are resident in Spain and none of them has come to Mumbai to submit the application:

Affidavit of the parents before Spanish notary public expressing their desire to accomplish the family regrouping with the applicant.

Power of attorney of the parents before Spanish notary public in favor of a representative older than 18 to submit the visa application, collect the passport and represent them in any action concerning the visa procedure before the Consulate General of Spain in Mumbai.
Photocopy of the representative’s passport.
If the applicant is a minor, the application has to be signed by the parents or by the duly authorized representative.

Copy of the favorable resolution on the residence authorization with the acknowledge of receipt by the regrouping person (date and signature).

Birth certificate. Depending on the nationality of the applicant the characteristics of the certificate should be as follows:

Birth certificate issued by the Registrar’s Office in English and legalized by the Ministry of External Affairs (Apostilla De Haya).
Photocopy of the birth certificate and of the official translation. If the certificate is in a regional language.
If the applicant is 16 years old or more, legalized criminal record issued by the authority / authorities of the country of origin and of the country or countries in which the applicant may have resided during the last five years. This certificate must be less than one month old at the time of submission of the application. Indian certificates must be issued by the corresponding passport office. If this record is of Indian Origin it requires a 'Apostilla De Haya' stamp from the Ministry of External Affairs, Patiala Court House, New Delhi.

Original admission letter in an officially recognized educational centre, public or private, to study or to carry out works of investigation or training. This letter should include the code number (if any) assigned to the centre by the ‘Registro nacional de universidades, centros y enseñanzas’ or by the ’Registro estatal de centros docentes no universitarios’, (both run by the Ministry of Education and Science), or to the investigation centres as such recognized by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce or by the Ministry of Education and Science.

Original letter from the educational centre with the contents of the program of studies, training or investigation to be followed.
All the documents that the applicant may consider appropriate in order to show his / her financial means.
